  • Salvatore Ferragamo Fashion Show LA

    Welcome to my life.

Today, I was lucky enough to be lead manicurist for a private showing of Ferragamo's Spring '14 collection at the opening gala for the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. Our nail team consisted of seven nail gurus from Olive & June. The best of the best models were flown in from all over the world to walk the custom-built runway that ran the length of a long, elegant dinner hall.

At every table could be found celebrities and well-known figures from Gwen Stefani to Jodie Foster to Dev Patel. Co-chairs of the evening were none other than Brad Pitt and Robert Redford. The opening gala was reminiscent of the opening scene in Titanic where Kate walks on the ship and everything is brand new, untouched, shiny, clean.

But that's not the exciting part.
The exciting part is what was going on backstage, the juicy unknown.

The setup was of course Hollywood style: in trailers. One for makeup, two for hair, none for nails. The models trickled in, and I felt at home as I saw familiar faces. Since Ferragamo is an Italian brand, the nails had to stay consistent to European fashion, which would be...guess it...drumroll...bare. We went with a beige-to-nothing look. And how perfect it looked with the collection.

The look: Butter London Nail Foundation (2 coats) + Seche Vite Top Coat

    The models: hilarious

The clothes: beige + structured for days

    The atmosphere: hairspray haze

The food: steak + red wine

The open bar: pinot noir + cabernet sauvignon

    The flowers: pink peonies

    The red carpet: beige
